His pop music is so far from being soulless. I will grant that lyrically, you might often have a point, but the performance is actually the whole point, and the king can sell even the corniest of lines. He has a fantastic vocal expression. Few can match his delivery.

Genesis don't even consider themselves prog in retrospect. No one was really trying to make prog in the early 70s, their ethos was just "rock and roll with a twist" and nerds lumped it all up into one category years later.
