The problem is not the music, the problem is that there are few coherent local scenes anymore, and there are definitely almost no local scenes that are isolated, doing their own thing, and building toward something. Novelty happens in competition with others along similar trajectories in the same place. The internet flattens everything into an ugly grey parking lot. Nothing sticks, nothing matters as much, and no one's going anywhere.
