I was a self-hating monkey. But after I started listening to my country's slop, I realized that it's light years above American slop. It's crazy how bad American slop is, it's the kind of bland and formulaic slop. Not that it isn't like that in my shithole. But it's that kind of garbage that's without any artistic merit. For now, local artists are too dumb to use AI to write music. So they're following a tradition that's always evolving, and you know what? It sounds great. Even better than non-mainstream American music, which makes it even sadder. And it's not that I don't love American music, I still love American music, it's just that this discussion of the “best pop music” is funny, when they don't even have the best pop music in the world
