Cream and Who have some importance to the British Invasion so people studying that scene will encounter them. Who/Cream/Hendrix are too historically important to the 60s scene and the hippies/British invasion that they'll always have some academic interest at the least.

Maybe, but only in isolation. The band won't be considered at all (a little like Poco now, though that's the much better band)
