>>126784943 (OP) Gira is a self made man. From getting arrested in Israel (and subsequently escaping by karate chopping a guard while he wasn't looking), to fucking Madonna (before she was famous), to working long construction while attending art school at the same time, he's perhaps the greatest mind of our generation.
but what am I in for? I like the velvet underground, pink floyd, frank zappa, daniel johnston, david bowie, aphex twin, elliott smith, the beatles... you know, the usual suspects.
>>126784990 >but what am I in for? I don't know, have you tried listening to one of their albums or songs? you can go to youtube or spotify or whatever jew shit you use and just start listening, do you want us to hype the band for you, retard? go and listen and form an opinion yourself BITCH.

>>126784990 Listen to Young God, it's the single best studio work they've ever put out, Cop and Filth are also great. Public Castration Is A Good Idea remains their peak as a live unit. Most of everything they released outside of this era is self-indulgent and tedious, but Soundtracks For The Blind, The Great Annihilator, and Swans Are Dead all have good enough moments to make them worth hearing at least once. Ignore all the slop they've put out after reforming.
>>126785083 Dude are you seriously getting your self-worth from being an obvious tryhard contrarian?
OP, listen to Filth to get a feel for their early style and The Seer for the modern style. But check out Soundtracks for the Blind first to get a feeling for how diverse, interesting and in-depth the music is.
>>126785130 >>126785083 you are all just namedropping stuff i dont know what any of that is. i dont know what swans is. go ahead and spoonfeed me the relevant information.
>>126784943 (OP) I am unsure whether I attended a show by them in Boston sometime in the early 2000s

Tell us what you think. This is me enlightening you on Swans. This is the song to start with. It's good because it's their most "normal" so even if yoy hate all their other experimental stuff you can still listen to this good, normal folk song. (I love most everything Swans have done anx have been a fan since high school)

Try to see them live if they come to your city. Iโm not a huge fan of their records but they are great live even if you donโt know the songs.

>>126784943 (OP) one of the rare bands to still be relevant and producing quality albums this far into their career only happens to a handful of bands in each genre at most
