Doesn’t matter. Bands were only ever a thing because of the Beatles. Before them, popular music was a headlining singer backed by nameless musicians. No boy before 1963 ever grew up wanting to be in a band, and no girl ever knew the name of any bass players. The Beatles single handedly invented band culture, which became the foundation of baby boomer culture. They made it cool to be a band member for the first and only time.

Bands were only relevant from 1963 to ~2003. Like it or not, nu-metal was the last time rock music had any mainstream relevance. Bands and rock music in general will continue on as a niche genre for at least a few more generations, just as jazz has done, and there will be short lived rock revivals based on nostalgia, but no rock band will ever be as big or influential as the Beatles because rock will never again be the paradigm.
