If he could have stolen music when he was growing up he would have. I was a teenager when the whole downloading thing took off and I actually bought the CDs. Now that I'm older I realize I should have just downloaded them.

Oasis is very middle of the road music. Even if he is right 80% of the time, his ire comes from a place of deeply deserved awareness of his own mediocrity.

His tunes are fun to listen to every once in a while, but not really among the "greats" in the genre.

He just wasn't innovative, he already sounded revivalist with those Beatlesy note progressions (like that part in Hello when Liam sings "And it's never gonna be the same", in those descending notes, that's such a Beatles basic bitch ripoff)

At least Cobain made better songs from bits borrowed from here and there. His melodies were just so great and new

if people could download a coffee, they obviously would.

also, everyone has access to essentially "all the music" at the click of a button, which means there isn't a tiny group of songs and albums that are culturally relevant, making those songs and albums "worth" that tenner.

you bought Definitely Maybe in the 90s not just because it was the only option, but because it gave you access to a cultural moment. there are no cultural moments with individual releases now.

Average guitar playing
Songs listed from Beatles
Silly zeitgeist lyrics

I think even he realizes now that what made Oasis "special" was his Shakespearean relationship with his brother.

Maybe so, but I don't need a guy from Manchester, especially this one, telling me that spending money at a bar (whether beer or coffee) with friends is a waste of time and money

The larger point, which is correct, is that you canโ€™t complain about the lack of good music when youโ€™ve ostensibly removed any real incentive to create original things.

If this were the only reason why original music was stagnant compared to when Oasis was in their prime, I would be a lot more sympathetic to the argument
