Post up your dub stations! also obligatory dog tax
>>126832622 (OP)Based Yamaha reface enjoyer, I have a YC myself. Really want to get a CS or DX next...
>>126832684hell yeah brother, i have the yc too i should have posed it in the photo. the cs can nail the square wave yc organ tone so i usually play that instead because of the extra modulation capabilities and the built in looper. theyre all amazing though, i too want to get the dx to complete the superfecta. need to graft on two more hands..
>>126832622 (OP)Which amp is that and what does it sound like through it compared to monitors?
I'm all software. Just a couple of boring controllers and headphones to look at. Haven't even got a pic of my dog I've just realised.
I am a terrible person.
Just re-organized my whole rack. Sorry, no pics yet. I don't have a pic but currently the 'brain' of the operation is the MPC One. It's sequencing an RS-7000, a Minilogue XD, an FS1R, a BassStation Rack (first model), an EX5R and I also have my Drumlogue hooked up. I use an Alesis QS 6.1 for my master keyboard, it has a bunch of nice features for that. It's all running into my Roland VS-1680EX Virtual Studio. Since the MPC can take any standard class-compliant USB MIDI adapter, I have an 8x8 hooked to it for a grand total of 9 DIN MIDI ports, all but one pair are in use. Each device has its own MIDI port with 16 channels so there's no THRU lag and weirdness. I can't hook any more shit up right now, all 8 audio inputs into the VS-1680 are taken. Sooner than later I will upgrade to the VS-2480 which will give me eight more analog inputs.
I want to get the digital IO option for my EX5R which, if done, would free up some inputs on the 1680 because it has digital IO too.
Oh and it's all running into a pair of HS70M's and an HS10 sub.
>>126834927Noice Drumlogue, pretty fun. Big goal would be to get a Machinedrum but they're fucking $$$
>>126834955The *logue platform has all kinds of weird Open Source oscillators, you can write an oscillator for them in C.
Totally future proof. People should buy them more it's really a great deal, they have certain limitations compared to the top of the line Oberheims or Prophets but they are easily overcome. Besides none of those analog synths top the FS1R for super organic evolving type patches. I am not sold on needing the BassStation and might swap it in for a Roland U-110 for a while, that's a based lil synth that's somewhat unique. It's just lying here in my stack of other gear I don't have hooked up. I also have a Sidstation here, bought it new. It's a prized possession of mine.
>>126835002>SidstationNever even heard of it, loox cool. Thanx for the heads up on the open source oscillators for the Drumlogue, gotta look into it 4 mine.
>>126835619There are some hundreds out there, look it up on github or Korg has a page but it's rarely updated.
>>126835743yes
but how do you run it all? mixer?
I make music that sounds like shit
>>126835935volca sample is based
you could do it all with just that one thing
>>126835935Which interface is that and how do you like it? Also what's going on with the iPad?
>>126833633ive got a BBD echo for the snare and the keys have built in delay so it works fine. i actually have a wem tape echo that half works but the idea behind this setup is that it all runs off the 9v battery in the amp
>>126833624its a templo amp! it sounds fine to me although im sure proper monitors and a mixer would be much crisper and precise. its certainly not the norm to use a guitar amp lol. im just messing around anyway. the main cachet is it has a 9v out so i can run the 303 and 606 off it along with fx
>>126832622 (OP)>>126834927>>126835743>>126835935f yeah im digging these similar compact aesthetics. i wish we could do a 4-way jamboree
>>126835935Hell yah same only I use a lot less gear to do it
>>126834927post a pic in the dark! all those cool backlit screens...
>>126836455Behringer UMC404HD
Super happy with it for the price. Never had any issues with it aside from some rare hiss that has something to do with grounding, but that might be in part due to my rats nest of power strips and cables.
>>126836346Love my Sample, it's my go-to box for sketching out rough beats. That and the Volca Bass have been the starting points for a lot of my stuff.
Recently though I've been really into the Volca Drum, specifically running it through my NIM setup with the Mackie mixer and Geiger Counter. Made some absolutely crazy noise/industrial beats like that.
>>126836973Got a Mac? The MPC can hook up to the OS X MIDI interface and route over the network.
>>126837089i fell for the volca kick meme and it's deep
>>126836455>>126837089Oh yeah, and as for the ipad:
So the computer running all this is just a 2012 Mac Mini I picked up for $50 then forced to run Sequoia so I can use Logic, and I just happened to have this old iPad Pro laying around that I got for free and I found out I can use the iPad as a controller for my Logic session! So it's basically just a mixing/effects controller.
Also here's my blind cat
>>126837115I had the Volca Kick, didnt love it and wound up selling it for booze money when I was down really bad. I sorta regret it, I feel like I didn't put in the time to properly utilize it, but I also definitely don't need more Volcas.
>>126837096ah too bad im poor hence the behringers
>>126837115>>126837156The volca drum tempts me so fucking much, but I already have an elektron for my weird drums needs and getting another machine would go against my attempt at simplifying my setup
>>126837089>Behringer UMC404HDGotta love Behringer as a broke musician. I need a decent inexpensive interface. I just got a LinnDrumm and the build quality isn't great but it sounds good.
>>126837428Hey man,
>>126835935 here
Im running everything on a Mac I got off Ebay for $50. You can run the current OS on stuff made all the way back to 2009 (with some unofficial tweaks, of course). Contrary to what Apple wants you to believe, Macs can be dirt cheap and still work.
>>126837887Eh, yeah if you've already got an Elektron then there's really no reason to throw down for a Volca Drum too.
>>126840524I used to shit on Behringer specifically for their effect pedal build quality, but what they've been doing with rereleasing vintage gear is a godsend. I don't care if it's in a shitty plastic box, getting a SY-1 and a Minimoog for >$200 each is absolutely fucking insane.
>>126833633where do you guys get your tape echo effects from? I'm currently looking at guitar pedals but there's too many of them
>>126844715my favourite is the retro-sonic analog delay, its a bucket bridge style analog so not quite as authentic as the real deal tape machine but still has that organic feel that digital does not. maybe its just the tone knob magic
>>126844715if you can get your hands on a real deal tape machine though they are loads of fun. i have one of these but its a two prong cable which is fairly sketchy to use
