This is the best Black Flag album, and therefore also the best hardcore album of all time IMO (in my opinion)

i don't like black flag aside from a few songs because the production in their albums makes the guitars sound so lifeless

Like listen how"full" the guitars feel in Bad Brains first LP vs anything by Black Flag.

**
Also the best hardcore album of all time is Milo Goes to College by Descendents
**

Also the best hardcore album of all time is Milo Goes to College by Descendents, maybe not the heaviest or fastest but judging quality and song writing track by track that's my pick

As much as it can be said, I prefer the first three EPs because they are different vocalists for each. To me, this makes Ginn's somewhat annoying guitar and songwriting more palatable to me. I know they're important to this genre, and I respect that, but I don't personally put Black Flag anywhere near the top hardcore bands.

it's hardcore, maybe some of the last few songs aren't but it definitely sounds like hardcore punk due to the vocals, speed, drums shouting and the fact that they were literally part of the hardcore punk LA scene

The rhythm section on this has more groove than previous albums, it's like an extension of the sound of Can't Decide from My War

Slip It In [SST, 1985]
The title cut is someone who learned about sex from movies. "Black Coffee" takes this whole antidrug thing too far. "Wound Up" could be tighter. "Rat's Eyes" cries out in agony for Sabbath's chops. "Obliteration" is an ace accompanyist's solo turn. "The Bars" isn't about prison or saloons. "My Ghetto" is an outtake from the rant side of Damaged. "You're Not Evil" is right on. C+

Half this album is fucking great and some of my favorite Black Flag stuff but the other half blows. Damaged is their only good start to finish record.

Maybe this is true but it's not like Black Flag are hard to understand. They're one of the first five bands to slip out of anyone's mouth if they're even vaguely familiar with hardcore.
