Yes you now vaguely recall that the Denton TX scene once received a little bit of hype - somewhat deservedly. Remember Teenage Cool Kids? Leaving the albums aside (which I mostly don't care about), those of you who like emo should absolutely and especially know their first EP from 2007 called "Remember Me as a Silhouette"

I still listen to Midlake every once in a while. Occasionally something decent comes out of a bunch of UNT kids. The scene’s faded, though…as have most scenes outside of New York, Los Angeles, or the Pacific Northwest.

Yeah, unfortunately it seems to be so. I have a soft spot for when these little places briefly produce a little energy outside of their borders, but it doesn't seem to be common anymore. Oh well. Remember Slobberbone?

I guess so, in the sense that they're clearly part of a genre. The answer is that this EP is not widely known even among fans of the genre, and that I think it is an energetic and satisfying four songs. But I was speaking of it in the context of a scene which was receiving some attention. So that's what about them.

Occult Detective Club and Stymie were the best bands.

Nice, haven't thought about them in a while. I was friends long ago with several different guys in different bands who released stuff on Red Lounge.

My favourite part is the misspelling of silhouette.
