Depends what you're doing. A certain type of person here will always champion piano, and the piano is in many ways a "deeper" instrument than guitar. At the same time, there are not many deep players of the piano, and most people seem to just slip into the DAW noose of electronic keyboard music. The guitar is a portable instrument, and if you're inclined to do so, can be very deep, particularly if you want to learn to play classical - but if you don't love that music, there's little point in doing so (see for example that Sor Hands guy, who obviously does not love that kind of music the way that better players do). I think the guitar, especially acoustic guitar, is a great instrument and if taken seriously will satisfy you for your entire life. The piano will do likewise, but I can bring the guitar with me outdoors, and this is a very important part of it. You should decide based on what you actually do and actually care about. There's no right answer except that, especially since you're starting "late" (the instrument wasn't chosen for you as a child).

You should make your choice based on the music that you listen to.

Ideally, you should learn both.
But guitar is best for being portable, casual, easy to maintain, and extremely expandable.
