>check the mainstream charts
>it’s all pop and country
>the only rap that can chart now is a single Kendrick or Drake song
Holy shit how did rap lose mainstream appeal so quickly? It went from complete domination to no one caring anymore

I have a theory that each genre gets about 50 years in the mainstream before it dies.
And hip hop turned 50 a few years ago.

another thing was all the new wave young sound cloud rappers dying or going to jail. Rap has to be young, but now you have rap dominated by 40 year old men, kanye is almost 50

rap peaked sales wise around 2017, then covid happened and the music industry itself went under lock down.

there are many factors to the demise of raps popularity and i am glad of it. but i thought they would bring rock back, especially with trump in office. instead we live in a shit world were rap and rock are dead and the only music being made is benson boon, sabrina carpenter and pop country.........eh

Most of the criminal outfits funding rap got RICO-ed since the late 2010s.

It’s not that rap “lost appeal”. It’s that it isn’t getting pushed as hard anymore because wpop is currently much more effective at furthering the social engineering goals of BlackRock and Vanguard.
