Most pop folks will not help me, but I am looking 1980s and 1990s music (disco type) with sound similar to what I listened to growing up in former USSR, but outside of singers from former USSR.

I will give some examples for you to listen to:
Sofia Rotaru
Oleg Gazmanov
Viktor Saltikov and Group "Forum"
Group Mirage (Mirazh)
Group Combination (Kombinatsiya)

Thank you for your consideration.

A bit, though I am looking for a bit of electronic instrumentation (especially keyboard and synth). However, it does have a similar tempo and is lyrically driven.

Thank you (though I am from Belarus). Our music is a bit different than the Anglosphere, in fact, we have an entire genre that you guys do not have: chanson. We do not have country music, which is chiefly American, but you do have folk inspired music.

Our chanson was originally like the French genre, but is now fairly different. We use a lot of our own instruments for chanson, a good amount of balalaika and acoustic guitar (alright we cannot really lay claim on this one, but we use it differently to Westerners) and the lyrics are often quite somber, though not always.

Thanks again.

Perhaps I will post a song about dating American guys (Gorby allowed it, which is surprising, even for him). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-8aEtLTrhs&pp=0gcJCdgAo7VqN5tD

Do not date women from here, though. It is, how do the Americans say it, a sausage through a hallway (or is it at the end of a hallway). I struggle with idioms, but Russian/Belarusian/Ukrainian women, in my age bracket at least, were ruined by the 1990s, the late 1990s, specifically. The music actually reflects this too, as it copied American music more than ever.

The phrase is "hotdog down a hallway", but you used it correctly. American women are not much better, but it is just something that you have got to accept. You don't have to like it, but it is what it is.

Ah yes, one of their most popular songs. Good to see someone who knows it, so tell me, do you know anything like this?

Also, thank you for helping me with English.

I do not, I am afraid. Perhaps something from Europe might be a good match.
