when i settle on an album for a couple of weeks that i really get in touch with il go back to some other album that i tried before but didnt really get and it will usually sound pretty different so ive found it really useful to go back to stuff and give it another go after leaving it alone for a month or two.

sometimes you will find a favorite that you play so much that you almost wear it out and it will completely reshape what other different but still similar type of music sounds like

I really hate insufferable people like you who treat music as if it was a job...

I just play each on track repeat until I'm satisfied its good or bad before moving onto the next track.
I make a note of how many tracks I consider good and if its less than 33% then that album goes onto the shitlist and is never listened to again.
the good tracks however are copied into a folder named "good tracks".

I will give an album far more latitude if it was recommended by a friend who has good taste in general even if we don't agree on everything. For most other things, I'll give it more of my time if at least one song captures some of my attention. Otherwise, I'm not going to waste time trying to like something. There's a lot of music out there.
