Reminder a lot of miserable bastards on this board are programmed to hate this album because it got rated high by RYM and reviewers like Fantano. I do think it is quite bit overrated like it’s not an all time one of the greatest albums but it’s very good.

Have the feeling that fantano didn't like it that much and gave it that 9 more for compromise, I think that's why I like this album so much, don't want to listen to things that are fantano-core

holy shit, i'm 4 tracks in and loving it! no more assumptions for me.

I particularly like this album because it shows an evolution of them as artists that have clearly been on a great trajectory. They started as a mediocre prog rock band and got all the way to this, with mediocre pop somewhere in between and a more than decent first album. Whether you really like the music itself or not, the authenticity and originality is hard not to see.

half agree, this is the first pop album in a long time (BRAT doesn't count)(probably since Titanic Rising) that they've hyped this much, an exception as I think this album is genuinely good, but when I look at bands like Black Country, New Road, Black Midi or any Rap conscious artist, the feeling of listening to garbage that RYM is probably basing their personality on is undeniable

I am really happy to see how well Imaginal Disc has done.
When they toured their first album they played to a half full downstairs stage at White Oak Music Hall in Houston. The show was great but the small crowd was disappointing. Now they sell out much larger venues. Good for them.
I don't think they make the best music in the world, but it's a breath of fresh air for pop music.
