>what is "rave culture"?
Old people still doing drugs they can't handle in places they shouldn't be, plus LARPing zoomers.
>does it still exist in 2025?
It still happens but it doesn't exist.

people who don't really care about the music and just want to be seen in trendy clubs or network for their own pipe dream DJ/photography/fashion/graphic design career

I think it does, I tried getting into it back in 2022 but couldn't stand the degeneracy. Also my grandma passed away around that time and I think she would be ashamed of me if she knew that I took drugs.

rave culture was cool in the 80s and 90s. it was mostly found in europe, but in america raving and electronic music were super underground, cool, and kind of gay. after disco died dance music was on the sidelines in america.

then around 2010 skrillex made "EDM" cool for normies and dude bros and you started getting these insane giant festivals of jack asses where they play big house music and everyone is just there for the drugs and light show

but yeah, electronic music fell off in america, EDM was huge, now its like no one cares, and electronic music itself has moved very slowly in the 2020s

the state in the UK is honestly embarrassing.
at zoomer raves people are unironically playing skrillex and zomboy tracks from the 2010s and people love it.
the more “mature” club nights are a bit better with techno and trance and there is still a sense of atmosphere, but they’re full of deanos and the tracks are usually kind of boring.
free parties are the best, but even then they’re a bit mid and full of slags and druggies

Rave culture died with the introduction of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994
Zoomers think going to corporate events like WHP or Printworks is raving. They are sorely mistaken

>It must be a sketchy illegal party in a drainage ditch with literal criminals and junkies shooting up or it doesn't count
Kek for every one old head you run into at a show lamenting the death of the underground scene there are three who are happy they can just pay a cover at a real business and not have to get harassed all night.
