>get rid of pretentious drug addict loser guitarist
>make the best album of your career

It's that simple sometimes

great album but froosh quit of his own accord and 90s navarro was also a douchy junkie, plus keidis was back on the smack, also By The Way is the best album

They were all pretentious drug addicts

Based OHM enjoyer. It truly is the album where most of the songs are good, rather than the usual problem with RHCP where the albums are super long and most songs aren't worth revisiting.

How the fuck is RHCP pretentious? Do you even know what that word means?

Frusciante is more of a flake. He was off drugs by this point. I think he gets tired of RHCP as much as you guys.

Than why did he rejoin them?

Like I said, he's a flake. I kind of feel bad for the rest of the band, because he's integral to their sound, but they can't count on him.

His first infamous flake out. It's not even bad, in retrospect. But he's kind of going full Yoko here. Left soon after.

>“I had no idea what song he was playing or what key he was in. He looked like he was in a different world. We were on live TV in front of millions of people, and it was torture. I started to sing in what I thought was the key, even if it wasn’t the key he was playing in. I felt like I was getting stabbed in the back and hung out to dry in front of all of America while this guy was off in a corner in the shadow, playing some dissonant out-of-tune experiment. I thought he was doing that on purpose, just to fuck with me.”

this is the RHCP album that aged the best IMO, less funk-by-numbers and Kiedis cringerapping about California, and more just good hard rock songs with a groove. shame they’ve basically whitewashed it from their history.

>By The Way is best album

Imagine thinking this. Fucking LMAO.

Not the best in their career. It’s a toss up between Uplift MOFO, BSSM and Mother’s Milk. Any other answer is flat out incorrect.

>pretentious Do you even know what that word means?
LOL he doesn't. "pretentious" is lazy criticism, like when MAGA trash say "woke". It's just shorthand for "something I don't like"

It's funny how John is a giant fucking baby about this album and refuses to play any of the songs from it

to be fair, they all hated it, even Navarro did. I'm always surprised when I run into other people who like this album.

I saw them on that tour in 1996, it was pure fire.

that tension gave a depth to their music that’s much needed imo. I love tracks like Warped and Transcending where you can hear the styles clashing with each other. Perhaps the less RHCP sound like RHCP, the more I like them…

I'd rape this character
