Yes, the people in the audiences of performances are just paid actors and the conductors wear earplugs when they perform, as do the orchestras themselves and all the soloists

Out of curiosity which are the most popular classical "albums" for lack of a better word (symphonies...etc)? I know there's an interesting phenomenon in jazz where Kind Of Blue is one of the most streamed albums ever but no one listens to other jazz albums besides I guess that Charlie Brown christmas thing, or maybe Getz/Gilberto

Wow. It took you this long to discover that the kind of people that enjoy big band music enjoy it more in person than listening to a shitty mix through shitty speakers. This kind of music is enjoyed by other musicians, you wouldn't get it.

there's plenty of famous classical recordings (the classical world's word for "album")
Karajan's recording of Beethoven's symphonies is one
Solti's recording of Wagner's Ring is another (and was for a few decades the best selling classical recording in the world)
Glenn Gould's recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations is another ultra famous one (which I hate)

Yes, just a few hours ago I was listening to Maurice Ravel while translating a Victor Hugo book. I'm sophisticated like that.

Wagner's streaming numbers are abysmal for the most part, Gould/Goldberg and Karajan/#9 have 4-5 million streams which is similar to Aphex Twin's SAW so I guess some people are listening to classical (Kind Of Blue has 38m though)
