If Sweet Sweet is considered the “weakest” track here. We might as well accept this album being the greatest of all time.

WHAT? geek USA is the key track. It has the best guitar and drum playing, and both the middle and ending section are indisputably among the top 5 moments of the album. listen to it louder.

As album architecture goes, Sweet Sweet is like Dawn Patrol or Revolution #9, a weird little breather before the 'big finish'. I don't even count those types of tracks as songs.

why hasn't any other song ever captured the same guitar tone as Mayonaise?
I keep searching for it in Shoegaze, Pos-rock, and other alt rock bands, but somehow Mayonaise sounds so unique, even compared to other songs on the same album as it

oh right, forgot about that. haven't really listened to loveless in a long time bc it's novelty kinda wore off on me. if I were to listen to any one of the big three 90's shoegaze albums, I'd rather listen to Souvlaki.

I will never forget my friend getting cucked by Billy Corgan of all people. He brings his batshit coked up gf to see The Smashing Pumpkins, she gets invited backstage, she never came back. He left that night alone, spiteful, and angry.
But he reinvented himself vowing to never be around that scene of coked up scenester girls.
He told me this at the driving range, we was swinging golf balls drinking beers on lunchbreak.

This is one of them stories about girls being groupie sluts and how bros cope with that sad carnal knowledge. One of countless stories that is both funny and pathetic

no i'm 42 years old and I'm a real Smashing Pumpkins fan, saw the MCIS tour in junior high school, seen zwan, BC solo at the metro, this is just facts
first 3 albums are all S tier but MCIS and Gish are slightly better than SD
SD is pretty "samey" in comparison
and the Sweet Sweet of MCIS is We Only Come OUt at Night
love both those tracks

they glazed a band that they were friends with when they got famous. Do you think Bill Corgan would allow a lesser talent influence his songwriting?

Sweet Sweet is far from the weakest track. There are few songs that make the album feel like it drags on a bit toward the end. They should've excised a couple of them and it would've been more than a 9/10

Smashing Pumpkins turned 70s rock into alternative and the result (siamese dream) is the best alternative album of all time. Jane's Addiction was a bit similar that's true.
