Thanks to the anon who made the BGs thread the other day, I now learned they had a some great 60s albums and I would've never known. I hated disco and never bothered to look into them deeply
So far I like these three

Best of Bee Gees Vol. 3 [RSO, 1980]
Not that I don't think "Jive Talkin'" and "Stayin' Alive" aren't "great." But I would never trust any pop group that leaves out of its own canon such masterpieces of monumental schlock as "Lonely Days" and "How Can You Mend This Broken Heart?" This collection features twenty late '70s hits, B-sides, and rarities. But I remember. B

What part of "It's a collection covering the 1975-79 period" did he not get?

Their later stuff has a lot to enjoy too. They stumbled a bit in the early 70s, got so soft they almost floated away, but Life in a Tin Can and Mr. Natural are very good albums from right before their big comeback (the latter's title track might actually be my favorite Bee Gees tune, sincerely), and the three disco era albums (four if you count Saturday Night Fever) also have their share of great songs, not just the singles. I also have a weak spot for Living Eyes, even though the band themselves hated it.
They weren't really a disco band, either. They had a lot of disco songs but their albums of that period are more varied blue-eyed sou and soft rock than straight disco and they were always a little miffed about being pigeonholed and their label always favoring the disco tracks.

after 1980 they were banished from US radio and only Euros cared about their later output. Living Eyes also had a poor choice of a lead single and RSO went bankrupt from the Sgt. Pepper movie disaster and couldn't spend any promotional money on the album.
