The drummer is really good. Japs know talent when they see it. It hasn't been uncommon in jazz fusion for international collaborations.

he was hired for a summer tour and he stayed on for about a year after that. they haven't had a full-time drummer since him
they had albums produced by Jim O'Rourke, i wonder if that was an "in" to landing Chris McGuire -- both midwestern USA indie musicians
