Intestine Baalism is the only melodeath band I can stand. And by melodeath I mean melodic *death metal* not some jumpy clean singing faggotry.
Otherwise there's Bel'akor that's a good band too but a little too proggy and acoustic for my tastes but they're death metal alright.

I can't lie, melodeath mostly sucks as a genre. Black metal is far better for mixing 'extreme' metal playing with stronger melodicism. Doing it with death metal just sounds contrived and unsatisfying

The bigger bands like TBDM and CoB are basically just power metal with harsher vocals. And most of the tryhard bands like Instestine Baalism are just overrated as fuck, like >>127043717 said

Ok well I admit it's an exaggeration, but conversely is Black Dahila Murder really death metal in any way? All their output is overproduced and predictable/formulaic. They barely write any death metal riffs; tune everything they play up a step or two and it's pure melodic cheese. Their vocalist sounds more deathcore than death metal. They represent my problems with most MDM, it's not convincingly heavy enough to be death metal, nor satisfying enough to be resoundingly/pleasingly melodic, it's just in this shitty middle-ground. I personally couldn't care less about TBDM (but they're still better than mallcore like Arch Enemy, holy fuck do they suck)
