You could argue there are decent riffs or that you could get better songs out of it if XYZ were changed, but that's not what it is, so it remains worthless.

how do you forget riff ideas you have for an album? If they were actually good then you wouldn't forget them.

Solid album that could've made a fantastic EP, but with god awful art. Last 2 Metallica albums have had some horrendous art.

Atlas, Spit & Moth are good.
Side B just stagnates. Savage, Manunkind and Murder One may be the worst Met songs ever written. Really boring, frustrating.
Like Load & Reload, pick the best songs between Hardwired & 72S, edit some more, and you've got 1 good album.

Kidding? James is the only one keeping this band creatively vital.
All the drums sound like plastic samples, and is mixed way up front, naturally because its Lars's band and his ego is gigantic.

>Murder One may be the worst Met songs ever written
Which is a real letdown considering it was a tribute to Lemmy, a prime influence on them and basically a surrogate father to the band. They've strayed so far from what mage them good they don't even know how to pay homage to their own inspirations.
