Grunge was great because it was a healthy mixture of 60's/70's classic rock, punk rock, heavy metal, post-punk, 80's hardcore, goth, no wave, dub etc. all funneled together into one pool

Post-grunge was just an unhealthy mixture of grunge (i.e. Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam etc.) all funneled into one pool

Think of it like the science of incest; the more it stays in the gene pool, the more retarded it becomes.
