American Primitivism is the final breath of the Heartland dream.

If you were conscious before the turn of the millennium, you were sold this dream in some form. A simple life, where the natural world was the only world at all. Where we broke bread together as human beings, and lived in harmony with nature. A collective pioneering spirit that approached the world with awe, and not just something to conquer and rape.

I know the late 60s/ early 70s seems like a long fucking time ago, but these guys were effectively LARPing like it was the 1870s. But the economy of the note selection, the unadorned poignancy of it all... it's like a final cry, or an apology in advance, for the world we've left behind and can never return to.

I think anyone who gets it, gets it. Those who don't, never knew.
