What do you mean? They still had hits in the 90s and 2000s. That's more than any other hair band.

For that time, it kind of is a good indicator. Any other rock that withstood the force of Grunge in its heyday was worth something. It's a very small list. Ozzy, Tom Petty, surprisingly Bon Jovi. lol

Maybe to a younger crowd, but their old fans had graduated college by that point or something.
Same with Duran Duran. Another survivor of the 90s I forgot to mention. But most actual rock bands had it bad. Kurt put them all 6 feet under.

Can't act like you are a genuine hard rock act when you have a full time keyboard player and your entire audience is female because of pretty boy looks. Add to that childish cliche lyrics to every song. This band is what broke the camels back and caused the revolt towards grunge. Overcommercialzed hairspray slop with none of the grit of actual cock rock.

At least they were self-aware. They embraced their female fans very quickly and used their 'pretty boy' looks in photoshoots. They went from being covered from head to toe to nearly becoming strippers. Also, their songs became even cheesier. I like that.

I just looked up it's chart performance and was surprised it only reached number 33 in the US charts. It was a massive outside the US, particularly in Europe and Australia. Almost "Living on a Prayer" tier. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing it in the early 2000s

You can hear him completely tearing his voice apart in the isolated vocal track from "Living on a prayer" during the lift at the end.
His voice has been totally shot for years now.

I also saw a video of him a few months ago where he talked somebody out of committing suicide on a bridge. He makes lame music, but he generally seems like a good guy
