They're my favorite, however that decade is full of amazing bands to choose from. Off the top of my head: Mr. Bungle, thinking Fellers, don caballero, polvo, fugazi, aic, bts, soundgarden, Primus, the flaming lips, type o negative, prong, Hum, Mercury rev

They were pretty good; not sure about the best but easily better than Nirvana.

I never liked Pavement, then they “clicked” for me in like, 2022-2024. According to Spotify, Kennel District was my most listened song in 2023. Now I’m back to not liking them, though I guess I still kinda like Kennel District
