You can call yourself a music critic and not like music at all. That seems to be the guiding principle of /mu/.

Classical is the only music where the music is of any importance. If you do not listen to any classical you simply do not like music, but the theatrics around music because you cannot comprehend the medium beyond social dynamics. In which case you should probably get a different hobby, like wrestling.

I recall in some videos that he indeed did say that he was not too big on it. I don't think he hates it, it's just not something he regularly listens to. I'm sure we all of have a particular genre that we don't actively dislike, but we don't ever go out of our way to listen to.

No, that's not the reason why the majority of people watch Fantano. When people say that in his comment section, they're joking. The majority of people watch Fantano, because they have some sort of interest in music + they like his personality (they think he's funny - that's why his bad reviews do so well). This is like thinking PewDiePie was popular because of his selection of games that he played on his channel. No, people came to watch PewDiePie play certain games, not the other way around.

He's a popular music critic. Probably why he has a much bigger audience than say Dave's Classical Guide. He sticks to music with a large appeal whether that be common denominator or not is up for debate as he occasionally reviews more underground stuff. It's a simple case of supply and demand. There's more demand for conversation about travis scott than some 100 year old impressionist piece like ravel or something

That's not why conductors exist. It's because orchestras are so huge that you need someone to keep it organized. String quartets don't have conductors just like rock bands and they keep time just fine. If anything popular musicians can't keep time because they need blaring drums with no subtlety to keep time for them.

Artists create, who is creating new classical music worth listening to? Creativity means to create, who is creating?
