in my time now I'm beginning to notice rock and metal become probably the second largest music genre amongst zoomers. loads of 17-20 years old I know are now getting into rock or metal, picking up electric guitar etc.

But I've noticed a massive surge of popularity for about 1 modern band which is fleshwater. We talk about the revival of rock music but it's literally just zoomers becoming nostalgic for music they aren't even old enough to remember half the time.
why is this? will rock music ever genuinely revive? will bands ever write songs people actually give a shit about?

Most of the zoomers I know are eating up '90s indie/slacker rock along with a handful of older metal. Rock music isn't going to advance the way it did throughout the 20th century, but i'm honestly surprised that many zoomers aren't just listening to mind-control pop and modern hip hop
