but THAT solo in particular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_6e-zRF_hg&ab_channel=DeepPurple-Topic the layered one underneath, that's a VERY early example of a chugging metal riff

With all of the keyboard and guitar players in the world now, we all need to pick up where Purp left off.

I hear you man. He's the GOAT as far as I'm concerned. It's the ME snake charmer thing he does that gets me the most though.

For me it's despite how technical his riffs and solos can get, they always retain a lot of melody, it's what makes Ritchie's playing the ear candy it is in my eyes.

Blackmore is severely underrated and shits down hendrix's throat

Hendrix is the pioneer. He has his place. Blackmore himself won't shittalk him. He shittalks everyone except Hendrix and Beck.

He also has the coolest life out of all the greats. Instead of dying he just gets drunk and LARPs as a renaissance man.

I love Hendrix, but Blackmore is indeed very underrated
his riffs and solos were outworldly and very unique for classic rock

Hendrix clearly revolutionized rock guitar
just listen to any rock guitar solo made before him and you'll see how bland and unimaginative they were until he changed the game
Hendrix came with fresh ideas, new techniques, creative sound effects and a virtuoso approach to his soloing that everyone after him started doing
all of his contemporaries were in awe of him for a reason
>>127079375
I think Blackmore got an ill reputation in the industry due to him allegedly being a jerk
he's still one of the greats, as far as I'm concerned

I won't say shredding exactly. But the modern idea of it. And the greatest players sound like they're harnessing a live wire. Like electricity is in their hands. Controlled chaos. Like that Rat solo anon just linked. Jimi was kind of the first to really go all out like that. Blackmore. EVH.

Many of the songs on the first three albums were covers. My favorite was Hey Joe, which is better than Hendrix's cover.
