why is Bruckner so popular for larpers to pretend to like? I would chalk it up to nazi larp but much of the time they also throw in Mahler (jewish) whose music isn't similar at all. unless it's all one guy

Both Bruckner and Mahler are people who are alone in their territory of lengthy symphonies and were familiar with and liked each other at the time. Mahler was one of the only audience members in the premiere of Bruckner's third who was cheering the poor lad up after being heckled and mocked the entire time.

The only real difference is that Bruckner is meditative while Mahler is theatrical, but they both seek to achieve the same musical goal so it makes sense why people like both.

If you like long symphonies, Mahler, Bruckner and Shostakovich are your best bets for commonly performed music.
