Jonathan Davis was molested as a child. Many of their early album covers feature children or childish themes to reflect the band's interest in childhood trauma. The album literally has a track called "Daddy" where all of this is made blatantly obvious.

The debut was a masterful mix of the funky groove metal from before Nirvana, a grunge heavy sound for the times and a future nu metal sound that would be more metal than hard rock of grunge. And Jonathan had some major fucked up demons that made the music more compelling. Some songs are really eerie and have a strange atmosphere. The freak out of Daddy is something else. I heard this shit when I was 13 and it blew my mind and was obsessed with the record a lot. Had it on cassette
