My War [SST, 1984]
Depleted after three years by the corporate strife I'd always assumed they were too cynical to fall for (which may, after all, be why they did) Henry Rollins's adrenaline gives out and the collective depression is monumental--Gregg Ginn adds only one new classic to his catalogue of noise guitar solos and grinds out brain-damaged cousins of luded power chords on the three dirges that waste side two. Sole cheery moment: Rollins telling the listener how much he smiles, which is something I'd never noticed before. B-
