Silvertone [Warner Bros., 1985]
Like his East Coast counterpart Marshall Crenshaw, Isaak comes to his sources as a professional musician, not a bohemian dabbler. This is attractive, only his sources aren't as rich as Crenshaw's, and neither is his talent. Reflective modernized rockabilly played for echoing atmosphere. B

Reporting back. Great show. Chris has still got the voice and the showmanship. They played a ton of great old deep cuts which was refreshing, and a lot more covers than I expected. Even a Connie Francis tribute. Rowley (bass) was a beast, spryest grandpa on the scene. Disappointing lack of Kenny and Herschel but the subs were hardly a step down.

Honestly I only mentioned milfs as an icebreaker. There was at least one black woman there which was neat. Can't resist a suave ytboi.

They played that too. I tried to give a shout out to Jimmy Wilsey but I'm a voicelet who can't project.

I still don't understand how there are zero stories about him fucking fans, either female or male, while in his prime... Great music though. He is too underrated by music nerd standards.

My mom saw him once in the mid 90s. Back then he would stand behind the merch table and sign t-shirts and chat with the fans.
