I stayed until 2:30 in the morning hoping he'd pull out something from the Good Looking days and he never did. I guess it's my fault for expecting British music for an American audience at a venue that typically does DnB but christ was I disappointed.

The American electronic music scene is nothing but loud = good retards. Modern drum and bass is for weird 30 somethings who think they're fitting into young people crowds and try to pick up the young chicks at the shows who are dressed like strippers. I don't think any of them actually enjoy the music - I imagine that's what you experienced.
Honestly kind of surprised a geezer like Bukem is trying that desperately to stay relevant, from what I listened to of his Glastonbury set from last year it sounded pretty fresh with elements of his old stuff sprinkled in.
