>>127091999 any of the first couple black sabbath albums, most of the 70s judas priest stuff, deep purple, sir lord baltimore, fuckin van halen 1. I love wipers but they aren't heavy. this is a troll thread.
You know hardcore already existed, right? https://youtu.be/ctUiBVT142Y?si=2T4SYkG35sjrL7Xp
Also Joy Division were playing hardcore in like 1977 before they were a post punk band. https://youtu.be/a8URFO8sQHg?si=0JKGaJLY0t0e4YaW https://youtu.be/JPXMqjXGgRU?si=MJTgfKQI884uMhwe https://youtu.be/ObFIztY9M1c?si=qCfY8ccTUmSom2Un
>>127096918 >Wipers heavier than Black Flag Are you trolling? I like the Wipers, especially their second album, but nothing on Is This Real? is this heavy. https://youtu.be/RvYD6HYVE8A?si=oS4KxudWhLBGhjUV
>>127091999 Why before 1980. You said contemporary. Killing Joke's their contemporary, as far as "alt rock" goes. As far as non rock goes, early metal. Probably Priest.
>>127097051 I can hear what you're saying. He had a cool guitar tone. I think he partly built his own amp or something. Some kind of modded ampeg, I think. But KJ's overall sound and direction inspired even metal and even spawned industrial. And they had one of the best hard drummers.
>arguing guitar tone instead of songwriting Yeah sure. I guess it depends on your definition of โheavyโ
Early hardcore was faster with more aggressive riffs and screamed/shouted vocals, but the production was usually shit with a ton of high end for some reason. I guess if you ignore everything else and focus on tone, the Wipers were heavier.
>>127099202 yeah this is what I meant. Guitar tone + dynamics + the way they mixed the bass and drums made them heavier than early hardcore and heavy metal.
