I still haven't process that their lead singer died at like 50 from super alcoholism and just didn't even try to not die. Surely life can't be that hopeless for a guy who wrote fun pop rock and was relatively succesful?

If you're already depressed, doesn't alcohol usually make it worse? It's kind of a shit drug for that

I don’t think everyone that becomes addicted to a substance does so because they’re secretly miserable or they got touched by their uncle or whatever. Dude may’ve just really liked alcohol and was having a blast getting wasted all the time. My grandma wasn’t depressed but she knew smoking cigarettes all the time was going to shave some years off her life. She never even considered quitting. She liked her smokes. So she lived until 68 instead of 88, big deal. Being old sucks anyway.

The first chorus of all star where the guitarist sings by himself
>all that glitters is gold
Is much better than the last chorus when he's joined by the lead singer
