At least it's better than 2020s.

80s-90s music didn't really age, did it. Zoomers seemingly think Cobain is one of them. 80s mastered the hook in a way no others did.

Prior decades had organic subcultures that got commercialized after a while. At that point there were no subcultures left so music producers just made stuff up as they went along.

The late 80s/early 90s was kind of a dark age, with the decadence of later hair bands and awkward middle children of rap/RnB/dance music. Shit like New Jack Swing and "Everybody Dance Now" aged rather poorly. I'd take 50 Cent over any of that.

Yeah, but that's how it feels now too...just more prolonged. A neverending nightmare of C&C Music Factory and MC Hammer.

The good 2000s music aren't in the top 30, that's pop/rapslop, search in the 40-200 section.

The 2000s was a threshold moment in which people with good music taste could isolate themselves, and find what they wanted, not needing to listen to whole cds, peak availability. The good 2000s songs aren't in the top 30, search in the 40-200 section.

that's like a reversion to the 50s when a couple of Jews in NYC wrote all pop music
