Yes, he must have been a fan of van Gogh. Oh wait, I'm on the wrong board.

Vangelis didnt understand sheet music, nor did he understand musical theory, he just discovered it by noodling around on a piano.

Jimi Hendrix played guitar the wrong way round, his first ever guitar was strung for a right handed guitar player but he picked it up and played left handed, so it was upside down.
this made things twice as difficult for him

I mean that's subjective, but some say the suffering caused by his loss of hearing allowed him to make more passionate music. That, and his intellectual maturity

He wasn't even consistently deaf late in life and there's no clear understanding what was wrong with him.

I think I watched all the main movies, and they're not too good.
The best was probably the three-part documentary The Genius of Beethoven.
I would say it seems like his life just wasn't all that interesting, but I can more about Beethoven´s life than the movie Amadeus taught me about Mozart (Beethoven was in love with the woman his brother ended up marrying, got soul-custody of his nephew and tried and failed to make him a composer after his brother died. was abrasive to most people around him, becoming worse as his hearing went, and liked pouring water on himself indoors as part of his method), yet that's a much better movie than for instance Immortal Beloved.
Maybe a Beethoven movie told from Haydn's perspective, or a Haydn movie from Beethoven's perspective would have been better.

The movie Copying Beethoven suggested he wore some big parabola thing on his head.
