I had this filed away as unlistenable until the amazing tune out power of "Roll Me Away" piqued me to find out why. The music isn't half bad, adequate melodically and with moments of good writing here and there. But Seger's romantic individualism is suffocated by overstatement, less Bruce than late-outlaw. Just about any country singer could teach him how to approach a cliche kind of easy and with Seger's connections he could probably get lessons from Willie himself. But with his tastes, he'd probably choose Waylon instead. C

Bob Seger fucking sucks, man. He's like the most boring dadrock guy of all.
