I'm not feeling it. Too many dull songs (Four Shadows, Goth Bomb, Dinosaur Carebears, Exile on Frog Street), not enough fun. The weakest of Ariel's hi-fi albums.

they absolutely wrecked the prod on before today but of Ariel’s hi fi records it probably has the strongest songs even if quite a lot are Ariel’s lofi re runs
Pom Pom has about 8 or 9 songs that are perfect and will stay with you for the rest of your life the rest are either good or sufficiently weird
DTBJ has a bunch of excellent pop songs but a couple just aren’t my vibe, most are good though
Mature themes is great but is kind of flat production wise however like 4 or 5 tracks are fucking world class

dinosaur carebears is the best track on the album

Frankly I just prefer the sound of his lo-fi run, I merely tolerate the production of the newer albums.

Mature Themes is his worst of the bunch.

MT has a shitty cover and most of the songs feel over produced. It's like he was trying to really make his sound work for the radio. There was no mystique. The tones were so simple.

The only track in Mature Themes I don't care much about is Early Birds of Babylon, everything else in a banger. The album has some of the self indulgence of his older, better works with demented shit like Schnitzel Boogie and the seven and a half minutes of Nostradamus and Me, Kinksi assassin is a better intro than Plastic Raincoats in the Pig Parade, Is This the Best Spot is like an interlude from Worn Copy, Symphony of the Nymph and Driftwood reminds of the most unpredictable moments from House Arrest, Pink Slime is better than Jell-O. Pom Pom just has too many misses.

Based. I like Mature Themes... it's a chill record. The most low-key hi-fi Ariel record. Eating publix sandwiches with it in my earbuds made going thru my first heartbreak much easier.

I agree. I prefer mature themes to before today as well but all of his 2010s albums are great and worth checking out
