very typical mac demarco fashion. why hasn't he progressed in the last 6 years? he literally sounds the same. very talented if he is playing all instruments tho. he's just a chill guy like that?

It's weird how boring he got after Salad Days. What I thought was the precursor to a great musical career turned out to be the end. It's like he decided that he was an old man when he turned twenty five and thought it was okay to start making really dull albums.

He hasn't been the same since "Here Comes the Cowboy" that's the exact point where he stopped trying musically.
almost like he had his soul snatched. stopped being a goofball, quit smoking, became boring and stopped trying. i think the goofball memes got to him or smth

He seems like a cool guy, but I've never liked his music. Best things he's ever done are his feature on a Benny Sings song, and his instrumental album (which was still too boring for me to finish).

i mean look at that album cover. look at the title. look at the expression on his face. something must've happened but i dont think it's anyone's business to know what. and then he went on that road trip to quit smoking? pretty sure all his antics caught up to him and he's been depressed

No. I'm not in the mood right now. Maybe I'll listen to the album if he's that bothered. I'm happy watching his meme float past. You know I've not listened to a single Ye song for years. I just read the articles about it. It's more than enough for me, it keeps me occupied.

He got sick of his stupid audience. He painted himself into a corner with his goofball routine, so that's what they expect. Fucking funny to see people invested in MacDemarco say he got his soul snatched as soon as he ditched the overalls and cleaned the clown makeup off his face.

Imagine basically crafting an entire genre that inspired so many zoomers and millennials with a chorus-y guitar sound and studio technique you can still hear on the radio to this day, and all you get from your ungrateful, greedy, sheltered fanbase is bullshit about WOW R U OKAY MAC ?? LOLOL

I'm not even a Mac fan. He just clearly got sick of constantly clowning around and you all pissed your diapers because you wanna watch Teletubbies indie rock all day.

I actually started liking him slightly less when that Pepperoni Playboy documentary came out, which was the height of his goofball phase. It's not that he was good because of his wacky doodle shenanigans, it's just that that era coincided with him making good music. Right of the bat, I thought he was depressed when I saw what he was like in real life, as people who are incapable of being serious and have no off button usually are. Now that depression seems front and center and has resulted in him going years in between releases that end up sounding like they had barely any effort put into them. Dude is depressed.

>look at the title.
When Another One came out I also thought it seemed like a weirdly nihilistic and dissociative title It could be that he's just clinically depressed, the kind that isn't situational but is more of an inability to get any joy out of life. That might be why he was such a degenerate ten years ago. He was desperately trying to get some kind of satisfaction at all costs, and is now owning up the the fact that he can't. By the time he got there, he had worn himself down physically and mentally through his manic chase for happiness. This is sincerely the vibe that he gives off, and it would explain a lot.

>Dude is depressed.

This and it showed since Here Comes The Cowboy. The look on his face in the cover of "guitar" says it all. That's the price for promoting careless irresponsible behavior to young people under the guise of kino tunes of his earlier albums. He basically taught a generation how to act like white niggers.
