Is there anything more cringey than people who at big large scale festival sized stadium or arena gigs film on their phone not the band, but the screen next to the stage?
Why do normies do this, I don't understand, filming the band is one thing, but pointing your phone at the screen? What's the fucking point

Unless youre up front why wouldn't you want you film the big screen? My shitty cellphone camera isn't professional recording equipment and its limitations are apparent so filming the screen at least gives people in the back a shot at the action. How is this hard for you to understand?

because by filming the screen you're defeating the purpose of filming on your own device completely, the footage you're filming is being filmed by pro camera gear, you're not in control of anything you're filming, you're at the mercy of whatever the guy behind the camera decides is worth filming

If youre like 100 feet back or more from the stage the band will look like indistinguishable ants and a majority of the frame would be the back of everyone's head who is infront of you. Filming the big screen is a respectable choice imo

im not out here filming entire sets. at best i try and capture 30 seconds of magic as its happening. my instincts arent always perfect and sometimes i miss genuine kino but its worth recording a keepsake for later. it is embarrassing even doing this though because i know there are faggots like you in the crowd silently judging me but whatever.

I film the stadium when I go in before the warm up acts start, to get the atmosphere. Then I film 2 or 3 songs, usually my favourites, switching the camera from front to back to get the entire stadium and my ugly mug singing along, doing a 180 with both cameras to capture everything, also to get all the people singing, waving hands, clapping, etc. depending on the song. That's it. I enjoy the rest without filming. I think it covers both angles - enjoying the moment and getting some memories recorded. As for the OP, yes, I prefer to film the band, but sometimes it's nice to get the entire stage for pure awesomeness and atmosphere (what kids call aura farming nowadays). I don't have social media, fuck that, this vids are for myself and family/friends I show them to in person.

People that film vertically should be shot though.
