>>127109579 (OP)I voted for Kamala and always thought it was really bizarre how people acted like this completely apolitical album that had nothing to do the election was some kind of win for the left. The right does the same shit too, the Mario movie being one example. It's just weird when one side of the political spectrum finds a random piece of media and collectively plays make-believe that it's a victory for them when it's not. What's more, it surprises me how dated that album sounded when it came out. It was not only wrongly labeled as hyperpop, it sounds like something that would have been released in the summer of 2010, not 2024. The "brat summer" thing was really forced and cringe. I think we knew that the right was riding on vibes and this was our attempt to push the idea that we had the vibes in our favor, but it was all a mirage. It's hard not to be salty about it at this point given out it turned out. We could have picked a better album to pretend was a win for the left. Maybe the latest Beth Gibbons album, that one was pretty good. It had nothing to do with the elections but neither did brat, and Lives Outgrown was a good album, so fuck it.
