I used to hate it and thought it was the worst metal album ever recorded, but have eventually grown to appreciate what it is and where Max was mentally at the time. It’s honestly the very 1st Soulfly album, just under the Sepultura name.

Yes
I appreciate that were trying to connect more with their country's history and do some musical experimentation, but it just fucking sucks

Initially, yes, but then realized how influential it has become and how many bands have tried to rip it off since. True niggas will recognize that fact.

This is one of the only metal albums I like. I can't imagine thinking it's bad.

Sepultura between 1987 and 1996 is one of the most untouchable bands ever. Try again, faggot retard.

Why would you get filtered by an objectively bad album (and their worst up to that point)?

There are some gnarly riffs on Roots, I will give it that. Nu-metal wasn’t really huge in 96’ at that point, so this album and Korn’s self titled helped to kick start it.
