as good as metallica is the run black sabbath had from their debut up through sabotage is un-fucking-touchable and probably the greatest 6 album run in history

Metallica's better! They MADE metal. The style, the sound, the feeling. Every band, whether they try to be "tough" and "extreme" or not, stole from them.

I'm way more into Metallica and just thrash in general compared to regular heavy metal, so it has to be Metallica

Metallica.

Sabbath are good, but musically not all that interesting. Tony's guitar work is relatively simple and whilst Geezer does the job well, he's not even in the same building as Cliff.

Both have pretty standard, mediocre drummers relative to their peers though, and Sabbath shit all over everything 'tallica did from the black album onwards.

Heaven and Hell isn't nowhere as good as Sabbath's first 6 albums. It's time to accept the truth. Go listen to Dio already if you like his gay theatrical trash so much.
