So cringe. Especially with the orchestras and the whole hisper folk indie vibe

It was worse. I went to a liberal arts college at the time and clap stomp hey was not popular with the hipsters there. I'm not sure it was ever actually a hipster genre.

I fucking love these types of white people. Sure, they're "cringe". But you know what? They're are the nicest, realest, most helpful and stand up people in the world.

No but its easy to hate and laugh at currently but mark my words in 10 years the youngest zoomers and oldest gen alphas will revive this era aesthetic the same way zoomers brought back nu-metal

Yeah trying to talk about this shit on /mu/ when it was current would get you laughed off the board.

>>127117922
It was popular with people who liked The Black Keys and shit

>>127119157
I wouldn't be surprised by a revival but no this shit was worse than nu-metal. There was this air of "this is real music" like with dadrock that made it so insufferable.

Zoomers haven’t brought back nu-metal. Average zoomer cant name a single korn track. And no… this was never a genre, it was a series of highly successful commercials that aired during the Super Bowl…

I swear there’s some mill grifter fantano type on YouTube just casually mindfucking these kids coming up with “pretzel logic was the most popular millennial album” and “ja rule is generally considered the father of rap”.

I think we should define what stomp clap hey even is because every time we have these threads people only use the worst and most cliche songs to strengthen the arguement that its bad when in most cases those songs were the major record labels response to an underground movement becoming successful which would be akin to having a grunge thread with people only posting seether and puddle of mudd lol. If we consider groups like NMH or arcade fires funeral stomp clap hey then I think that changes the discussion.

Yeah I do consider Arcade Fire and NMH stomp clap hey adjacent. The whole indie confessional singer songwriter shit even without the stomping and clapping was aids. Arcade Fire directly caused every shitty indie band to think they had to be theatrical and go WOOOOOAAAHHHH OOHHHHHH to be emotional or whatever.

The closest thing to stomp clap hey that /mu/ really took to was Fleet Foxes. Their debut album was all over this fucking board for a good while.

I make very little distinction between Arcade Fire/NMH with Mumford & Sons. It's all onions.
