You aren't supposed to tell a difference, that's how the compression algorithm works. Doesn't mean the uncompressed version is obsolete.
If you aren't listening to all your music in FLAC then you are a slave to lossy codecs.

I listen to FLACs because FLAC is FOSS and MP3 is proprietary. Free, lossy codecs like OGG have plenty of use cases

I thought by 2025 people would understand that FLAC doesn't suffer degradation from rotational velocidensity like lossy does. A lot of my old 320kbps downloads from the mediafire sharethread days are noticeably distortes now, 15 years later.

i can tell the difference between flac and mp3 if it's a song i'm familiar with that wasn't recorded in a moor of dogshit. i cant however differentiate flac from vorbis
