We've all heard about singles bands, but are there box set bands?

Bands with uneven albums and an assortment of non-album singles and the outtakes that can be condensed into box sets consisting of around three to five CDs?

I think they're aware of this and a little pissy about it, because it's extremely telling that the Stones--shameless money-chasers that they are--never capitalized on the box set boom of the late 80s/early-to-mid 90s. They'll gladly issue another best of but they're "above" the career-spanning box set.
