His 90's albums are basically as good as his 70's albums, although the boomers who make up most of his fanbase will say I'm wrong because they were too old to listen to new music when they came out. Everything from Ragged Glory through Broken Arrow is excellent. That run of albums includes some of his most intriguing songwriting and playing.

Trans is fun but inconsistent. I'd say check out Rust Never Sleeps, or if you want to skip ahead, I'm a fan of Ragged Glory.

Actually, his first with Crazy Horse—Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere—is my favorite that you haven't heard. It's nonstop great tunes.

Same, but actually my second favorite track on that album next to Cowgirl is Round and Round. Incredible songwriting.

Agreed, I'd also go up to Silver and Gold - some gems on that one

Comes a Time (1978) is in my top 5 Neil albums, sometimes it's top 3 honestly - beautiful cohesive record with just great songs
Also don't skip Hawks and Doves, good stuff there too

Trans is honestly alright. If you can't stomach it, he did have the good sense to do Transformer Man on his unplugged performance, and that is simply a beautiful song. You should listen to that unplugged album for sure.

Silver and Gold is depressing now since he divorced Peggy and she died of cancer.

No one's mentioned Time Fades Away and Tonight's the Night yet, so those. Live at the Fillmore East for a good Crazy Horse live record with Danny Whitten before he died, but listen to Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere first. Neil was in Buffalo Springfield in the 60s before he went solo, and has some good songwriting credits there, but are worthwhile mostly for the novelty value. Expecting to Fly is probably my favorite out of that era:

If you haven't listened to Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere then you should. Mogs the shit out if After The Gold Rush (which is one of the more overrated albums of all time)
